"Mwalimu Yesu wa Tongaren is a Kenyan man based in Bungoma, who believes he is the real Jesus Christ on a mission to save the world. Mwalimu Yesu believes God gave him the name in order to fulfil his mission in this century. He was asked to preach to the people and those who believe in the word would live forever", Lemiso Sato Emmanuel noted...
Eliud Wekesa, popularly known as Yesu wa Tongaren, on Thursday, April 6, spoke on his safety and whereabouts after reports alleged that his life was in danger for being a self-proclaiming Messiah. The connotations around Yesu wa Tongaren made reference to the fact that Kenyan Christian Faithful were celebrating Easter Holidays. “Those are the dark hearts from Babylon. My father is letting them come together to attack me because he wants to destroy them," the Bungoma resident claimed.“I came back to complete the work that I started more than 2000 years ago when I left earth,” Yesu wa Tongaren told the Standard. According to Eliud, no one would dare cause him any harm or threaten his life, especially, on an Easter Holiday. "Jesus was crucified only once, and since I have come for the second time, it is written that I come to save those who await me, not to die for their sins a second time," Yesu wa Tongaren claimed. World over, Easter is one of the principal holidays during which Christians celebrate the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, which Eliud erratically and outlandishly claimed to be.
At his Jerusalem Mpya Kanisa la Yesu Church in Lukhokhwe village, Tongaren, Bungoma County, Eliud, who is not on social media, claimed a true Easter Holiday comes in mid-July of every year. This, however, is a misconception and can be perceived as his opinion. In reference to the Kenyan case, there was a general concern that unruly people would raid his home in an attempt to reenact the crucifixion of Christ. Courageously, Wekesa narrated his journey to fame, noting that his church had become a tourist attraction site in Kenya. Born in 1981 in Lukhokhwe village, Wekesa told journalists that he started talking to terrestrial figures at the infancy stages of his life. He reportedly acquired the title of Yesu wa Tongaren at the age of 26 when he started commanding a sizeable congregation at Lukhokhwe village. Meanwhile, religious leaders from Bungoma in March 2023, threatened to counter the self-proclaimed Messiah, arguing that he was misleading the public.
